MAIN PURPOSE OF THE JOB:
To provide legal services and guidance to UWA in line with the Uganda Wildlife Act Cap 200 of 2000, UWA Mission and other relevant Laws

Key result areas:
o Prepare pleadings and appear in court on behalf of UWA in line with established, laws, and procedures.
o Provide legal advisory services to management
o Provide legal representation for UWA in courts of law and manage mult-issue complex litigation
o Provide technical legal support to management
o Draft and review all contracts MOUs' and agreements to which UWA is a party.
o Conduct Legal due diligence
o Monitor the activities of the various partners ensuring compliance with approved laws and Memorandum of Understanding (M.O.Us) in line with UWA mission and strategic plan, relevant laws and agreements

KEY COMPETENCIES / SPECIAL SKILLS:
Good knowledge of the principals and practice of company law, development or environmental law, and the procedure guide to public sector
o Ability to interpret and apply applicable laws
o Self motivated .ardent team player with the ability to work under minimum supervision o Analytical and decision making skills o Negotiation and communication skills
o To perform any other tasks as may be assigned by management

ACADEMIC AND PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:
o A Degree of Bachelors of Laws from a recognized university with a bias in environmental law and or commercial law or company law.
o A masters degree in the field of Law is an added advantage
o A postgraduate Diploma in Legal Practice from the Law Deveiopment Centre (LDC) is must,
o Must be a registered member of Uganda Law society,
o Computer literate - MS-Office, Excel, E-mail, Internet (necessary requirement)

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
o Knowledge of the Uganda Wildlife Act Cap 200 of 2000 and other relevant laws
o Valid Legal practicing certificate
o Certificate of Admission and Enrollment on the roll of Advocates of the High Court of Uganda

WORKING EXPERIENCE:
o 03 years and above demonstrated experience in the field of Law, in a prominent and busy public or private organization, or law firm.

REQUIRED AGE:
o Applicants for this position should be 30 years of age and above.

Contract duration (04) four years renewable for all the jobs above except cultural values conservation project which is a two-year contract.
