Uganda Wildlife Education Centre is dedicated to providing conservation education, rescue and rehabilitation of injured animals, captive breeding of threatened animal species and recreation facilities to the Ugandan public. We are seeking applications for the post of Restaurant and Catering Manager.

Location: Entebbe, Uganda


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Restaurant manager will ensure that the restaurant operates efficiently and profitably. The Manager will be responsible for the business performance of the restaurant, as well as maintaining high standards of food quality, food service and health and safety. The manager will also be responsible for strategic planning and day-to-day management activities. The Manager is expected to have creative aspects, particularly in customer care, marketing and business development. Responsibilities:
1. Taking responsibility for the business performance of the restaurant.
2. Plan the marketing campaigns and strategies necessary to meet sales targets as agreed with the: UWEC management.
3. Ensure that customers receive prompt service in a professional, friendly manner, with sufficient staffing to serve them in a timely fashion
4. Overseeing the daily operation of the restaurant including cleaning, floor plan lay-out, table settings and theme of the restaurant.
5. Preparing reports at the end of the day, including staff control, food control and sales.
6. Setting budgets and agreeing them with UWEC management;
7. Oversee employee relations encompassing staff recruitment, training and performance evaluation,
8. Ensure the functions of Meeting and greeting customers and organizing table reservations; high standards of quality control, hygiene, and health and safety are maintained.
9. Ensure sufficient par stock for the operating supplies and cleaning products,
10. Supervise maintenance of building, equipments and environment.
11. Implement sound financial practices as set out by UWEC Management,
12. Ensure professional food handling and presentation as per the menu offer.
13. Handle all guest issues as per the established policies.
14. Ensure general hygiene is maintained with the HACCP principles are applied.
15. Establish the various menu with the best profitability margins for the Restaurant.
16. To be assigned any other duty in line with the operation of the Restaurant.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Diploma in Catering, Food service management or Hotel Management.
At least 5 years experience in managing a busy Restaurant. Computer literacy with very good knowledge of MS Excel and proficient in IT point of sales skills. Must have good report writing and presentation skills. Should be flexible, innovative, a team player, with good communication, feedback, and interpersonal and supervisory skills. Should be able to delegate clearly, and have flair for attention to detail,
